Barrier
When photographing my sister I wanted to put a barrier between her and the camera, whether that be an object, lighting or a reflection. By using a barrier, it creates isolation of the girl in the images whilst also adding effect to my photographs. I have then edited my pictures to increase the contrast between the girl, the shadows and the barriers. By doing this it creates more of a dark image with a restricted colour scheme. Dull, dark colours are normally associated with isolation which is why I reduced the vibrancy of the colours in the photographs.
Colour
For these photographs I have used colour to isolate certain aspects of an image and putting all the focus onto it. I have done this by capturing a scene which features one element that has a pop of colour and stands out from its surroundings. This is why in my designs I have removed all the colour from around the focus of the picture to make sure it really stands out.
Shadows
I further developed my designs to follow the specific research I got for Daniel Bastos. I used his idea of looking through objects and reflections and focusing on isolating the person behind that object. This time I made the images black and white to take the focus away from the colours in the photographs and put it on the contrast between the shadows and the highlights of the images which is a common theme in isolation photography.
